Preposterous

I went all the way to TD to see this guy!

Sometimes this language seems like the linguistic equivalent of a clown car. Some preposterous Japanese example sentences I have come across in dictionaries. Parfois la langue japonaise est très marrante. Voici quelques phrases particulièrement remarquables sur lesquelles je suis tombé en cherchant dans mon dictionnaire.

あいつの話は理屈が通ってなくてめちゃめちゃだ
His story doesn't make sense and is absurd.

Son histoire n'a pas de sens et est absurde.

あんなに遠くまで鳥を見に行くなんて気味も物好きだな

What a whimsical man you are to go bird-watching so far away (Mark).

Comme vous êtes capricieux, vous qui allez si loin pour observer les oiseaux.

彼女は痛風をやんでいる

She is affected with the gout.

Elle a de la goutte.

And a couple for which I have forgotten the Japanese:

He is getting far too familiar with my wife.
Il commence à prendre beaucoup trop de libertés avec ma femme.

Mr. Big Eater Tanaka is out with a stomachache. I wonder what the hell he ate and how much of it.

M. Tanaka le gourmand est absent à cause d'un mal au ventre. Je me demande ce qu'il a bien pu bouffer et combien.
