In Japan (and China), the traditional vernal equinox is at the midpoint, rather than the beginning, of spring, and so under that definition spring started on Wednesday. (This was also the case in older western traditions, which is why Midsummer's Eve is on June 21.) A bunch of blossoms and flowers are doing their thang already.

Le calendrier lunaire du Japon (et de la Chine) situe l'équinoxe de printemps à mi-terme (et non pas au début) de la saison. (C'était aussi le cas dans beaucoup d'anciennes traditions occidentales.) Donc, selon cette tradition le printemps a commencé mercredi. Sûrtout que je suis au sud du Japon, j'ai vu beaucoup d'arbres en fleur aujourd'hui.
