I was at a school up in the mountains today that has 15 students over 6 grades--they combine grades 1 and 2, 3 and 4, & 5 and 6, but even so the 1/2 graders are . . . one kid. An adorable tyke who's just getting his front teeth back in. Anyway, after the surreal experience of teaching in a full-sized classroom with a single desk and a single student in the middle, I moved on the other grades and came back for lunch--me, him and his (personal!) teacher. It was generally fun (though I couldn't really understand him because young kids don't know to try and use simpler vocab for foreigners), but the highlight of the day was when he spontaneously made up a song off the top of his head:
Old mister with glasses
His ears are enormous*
Haitham the monkey
An alternate ending I heard now and again through the 10 times he repeated the song: "Haitham, who has turned into a monkey." This made me very happy as I waded through the impossibly humid day. Also, when I related this to my someone at my BoE office, she thought for a second and said, "No, I think your ears are small." Ha!
This reminds me of an Extras clip:
His ears are enormous*
Haitham the monkey
An alternate ending I heard now and again through the 10 times he repeated the song: "Haitham, who has turned into a monkey." This made me very happy as I waded through the impossibly humid day. Also, when I related this to my someone at my BoE office, she thought for a second and said, "No, I think your ears are small." Ha!
This reminds me of an Extras clip:

awwww that's so cute! You have your own personal theme song now! lol
ReplyDeleteps you don't have big ears!
